The deceiver pattern is one of the best known and effective fly patterns in saltwater fly fishing. The pattern was created by Bernhard "Lefty" Kreh and to this day still proudly carries his name as people commonly refer to it as Lefty's Deceiver. In 1991 the U.S. Postal Service honored Lefty by including his famous pattern in a set of flyfishing flies stamps.
